Primary Purpose / Regulatory Responsibilities:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a Medical Affairs professional who serves as a key field-based scientific partner to healthcare providers and decision-makers, medical professional associations, and internal ** colleagues in the territory (). He/she engages in peer-to-peer scientific exchanges relative to the assigned asset and therapeutic area throughout the product¡¯s life-cycle and gathers/shares crucial insights which can inform business strategies and product development. This professional will be responsible for implementing key medical strategies to enhance and positively impact patient care, access and outcomes. The MSL reports to the Medical Field Lead and is the local medical representative/scientific expert of a field cross-functional team.
Customer Engagement
• Develop/manage customers including customer identification, effective customer engagement, and efficient territory management o Develops and maintain individual Medical Plan for key customers in line with Area Medical Plan objectives o Manages territory effectively with approximately 70-80% of time focused on customer interactions (area dependent) o Strong customer engagement through collecting/sharing of customer insights, tailoring of scientific proposal to customer needs and alignment of scientific partnership for delivery of value for the customer and the patients/caregivers o Collects, analyzes, and communicates information concerning therapeutic area, treatment options, emerging standards of care, and competitive intelligence o Scientific support of external experts in the context of sharing new and relevant data, advisory boards, congresses, medical education or publications• Support market access from a scientific perspective through scientific exchanges with payors, hospital pharmacists and others• Maximize site performance and support clinical trials, non-interventional and other RWE studies through the collection and communication of medical and scientific knowledge o Support study management and enrollment in collaboration and agreement with Clinical study team and routinely gather and share Medical Insights o Facilitate the process of unsolicited Investigator-Initiated Studies (IISs), serving as the main contact person between UCB and the investigator from the investigator request to the publication o Maintains **omprehensive understanding of investigators/sites capabilities and motivators to ensure recommendation of qualified sites
Functional Expertise
• Maintain and leverages strong and up to date therapeutic expertise (scientific, clinical, disease states, and treatment alternatives knowledge within the therapeutic area(s)) to, in the context of patient¡¯s journey, support tactical execution of territory plan in line with key medical strategies• Demonstrates medical leadership by contributing to key medical and scientific conferences, advisory boards, and clinical investigator meetings
Cross-functional collaboration
• Collaborates and communicates cross-functionally with field level counterparts from sales and market access to transform customer insights into actions to deliver superior and sustainable customer value and impact
• Contributes and shares accountability on creation and implementation of the territory cross- functional plan• Understands and engages with a wide range of stakeholders; proactively collaborates and networks with internal partners regionally and shares insights/best practices across the team• Provision of scientific updates to their peers• Ensure completion of CRM related documentation/reporting duties, planning duties and timely reporting of insights in line with guidance communicated by TA Area (Field) Medical Lead

Experience:
• Superior scientific profile preferred (MD, PhD in Natural Sciences, PharmD)• 1+ years of MSL experience strongly preferred• Relevant therapeutic and clinical experience is a plus• Basic understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare arena• Customer service and patient oriented attitude
