[Process Development Scientist]

3. Key Accountabilities1 The position is part of the Biomanufacturing Sciences Network (BSN), which is responsible for proactively pursuing and performing process development and purification of therapeutic proteins. The BSN group is involved in the selection, sizing, optimization and design of purification unit operations.
*Plan, delegate, analyze and provide appropriate clear solutions to customer/Merck Millipore while working under general supervision or guidance – these solutions may relate to process development, scale-up testing and/or data/results analysis
*Deliver basic and standard seminars on core technologies, engage in technical discussions with customers
*Understand basic market trends, competitive technologies
*Build & grow technical skills in core technologies and processes
*Support seeding initiative by executing trials under general guidance.
*Understand application feasibility, optimization exp in view of importance of PD in biopharm industry
*Become current on knowledge and understanding of process operations and technologies and biopharm best practices to support end-user applications.
*Communicate well and Understand organization, roles and responsibilities. Understand expectations for specific customer projects.
*Follow technical best practices methods to plan and carefully execute application trials with Merck Millipore technologies
*Perform basic data analysis and provide recommendations for optimized process conditions; provide report and summary of work in a timely fashion
*Works under general supervision; regularly communicates project status and/or updates with supervisor. Prepares basic protocols and study plans
*Familiarity with basic technical concepts, equipment and operational protocols.
*Understand basic process behavior and issues; consult with supervisor to devise and plan basic trouble-shooting strategies and procedures.
4. Qualifications
Education- Background in Chemical Engineering or BioProcess Engineering or Biotechnology or BioScience
Experience- Year experience: B.S. 4+, M.S. 2+
Technical Skills and Knowledge-
*Entry level position requires limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts. Solves problems that are generally of limited to moderate scope and complexity..
*Work is performed under general supervision. Follows established policies and procedures, and follows specific, detailed instructions on new assignments. Contributions are usually limited to task-related activities.
*Sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals- especially fluid dynamics.
*Practical sensibility of engineering design and system operation with a hands-on approach.

3. Key Accountabilities1
Provide technical services to customers in time and assists in their inquiries to assure proper installation, validation and repair procedures.
*Total system level trouble-shooting on complex multi-symptom problems
*Establishing and maintaining a highly responsive relationship and effective communication with customers, sales reps and other departments to ensure customer satisfaction
*Driving business result by making service contract, frequent preventive maintenance visit to boost up selling consumables
*Close co- working with product managers, sales organization and distributors
*Maintain high level of technical and application competence
*Installs, operates, repairs, validation and modifies complex, technical equipment with minimal supervision
*Make documentation service related with the qualification and accreditation of instruments

*Previous lab experience preferred
